About Sola

 

Olusola (Sola) Ojeh is a Certified Food Scientist and a seasoned Sensory and Consumer evaluation professional with a vast knowledge of the Flavor Industry. With more than four plus decades, Sola is considered one of the leading experts in sensory and flavor application. She executed and provided proactive leadership in the Sensory and Consumer evaluation function in partnership with cross-functional teams in Sales, Marketing, Operations, Quality Assurance/Control, Flavor and Product Development and Regulatory, globally.

An AIB Certified Baker, Sola has expertise in Flavor Application and Product Development across various market segments and is uniquely poised with working cross functionally across different business settings.

​

An SME, Sola is well-versed in flavor descriptive language and well known for leading and conducting Common Flavor Language Workshops to facilitate communication within cross functional teams internally and B2B teams externally. She has also used this effectively for development of Preferred Flavor Libraries.

​

Sola is especially passionate about the Sensory and Consumer Evaluation (SCE), which is a critical tool in gaining competitive advantage and market shares. Sola continues to be instrumental in leveraging the SCE tool and has a proven record of launching winning market products to gain large business shares.

​

With her extensive international background and broad experience in the Food/Non-Food Industry, Research Organizations, and Academia, Sola works effectively with global teams and knows the impact of cultural preferences on consumer expectations, acceptability, and choice.

​

Sola holds a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan, a Masters Degree with Distinction from the University of Reading, UK, and several continuing education certificates in Sensory and Consumer evaluation, Descriptive Analysis, Statistical Analysis, Sensory Software Applications, Product and Flavor Applications, and Management.

Sola holds numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. In her capacity as Chair of American Society of Testing and Materials International (ASTM) Subcommittee E18-06 - Food and Beverage Applications from 2010 to 2025, Sola was presented the ASTM E18 Sensory Evaluation Committee Merit Award at the Spring Meeting in April 2021.

She is also a member of Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), member of IFT Sensory and Consumer Science Division, Chicago IFT Section, and Founding member of Society of Sensory Professionals (SSP) and has been a guest lecturer at Purdue University's Foods and Nutrition Department, She has also served on the faculty of the IFT's Food Science for the Non Food Scientist and Flavor Interactions in Food.

Outside of her professional life, Sola is passionate about her family, children, and grandchildren, ministry with women, her fitness/health and wellness goals, cooking, baking, and her family foundation, Nuntiare Lesu. 

 

Sola lives in the Chicagoland area with her husband and college sweetheart of many decades.
